<img:stuff/2237_wiki_help_9y7vcgcflr5.jpg>

Theme: Tis the Season...

Like all the great contests here, this one has a particular theme so no posting photos of your great Aunt Ethel or the neighbour's dog. This time around we want to see MORE CREATIVITY! And we are going to be a lot more picky about what we want to see in the entries.

Its the time of year when folks all over the world get into the festive mood. Christmas lights appear on houses, manorahs are pulled out and cleaned and innocent trees are hacked down to be made into Yule logs (and Christmas trees). This time around we would like to see photos of what you feel best shows the Festive Season whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Yule! Of course, all photos must have a little explanation as to why this is a good representation of the season. ;)

Note:: Considering the magical feeling this time of year brings, the ET Photograph Competition will be accepting photomanipulations as well. Let's see all those Christmas sprites, fairies and elves hard at work people!

Rules:

1. NO STEALING PHOTOS! Photographs must be taken by Elftowners and posted here by the original photographer. Which means, no matter how much you might like a particular image on somebody's house, you are not allowed to add it here. This includes random images from the net too. TAKE YOUR OWN DARN PHOTOS DON'T STEAL THEM AND TRY TO CLAIM THEM AS YOUR OWN! That makes me angry, very angry indeed.

2. JUST ONE ENTRY THIS TIME. Sorry guys, just one entry this time around. You only get one chance at this one folks let's make it count!! Please put forth your best effort and the best quality, i.e. no coffe stained, faded Kodachrome photos from the 1960's. Any such entry will be removed. Please keep in mind that it is possible that a photograph has the same title as another one. This is not against the rules as long as the photographers' names are clear.

3. YES FOR PHOTOMANIPS! :D While this is a photograph based competition, we WILL be accepting photomanipulations for this particular contest. We want to see your photos of what best depicts the season and if you happen to catch an elf or sprite on film then let's see them! Please make sure that all material used for the manipulation is your own. Otherwise it will be removed for copyright infringement.

4. READ THE THEME! If you stick up a photo just because this is a photo competition, your entry will be removed without warning. ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT MEET THE THEME WILL BE REMOVED.

5. EXPLANATIONS ARE REQUIRED! We want to know why you think your photo is a good example of this festive season. Not only that but when and where the photo was taken is required as well.

6. SIZE LIMITATION: Since the chosen images will be featured on Main Street, all will be displayed at a maximum width of 300 pixels. If you would like to post the photo at the original size that's fine but please thumbnail it or ask someone to thumbnail it for you.

7. ALL IMAGES MUST BE UPLOADED TO ELFTOWN! Ask [Sunrose] for wiki-privs if you don't have them already: members who follow the uploading art rules and thus are not troublemakers, will be granted these privs. See advanced help for more information about privs.

8. SUBJECT MATTER: Since the winners will be featured on Mainstreet, images that depict graphic violence, pornography or other disturbing actions will not be accepted. Only photographs that fit the current theme will be allowed.

What will we be expecting? Creativity and lots of wonderful photos depicting this Festive season and possibly all the magical creatures that are associated with it.

Deadline:

December 31, 2005

How to post it here:
Add your image after the last one that has been already posted. Don't forget to write its title and your user name. For example:

13. [Fizban] "7 ornaments a crunching"
<img300*0:stuff/C%3ADocuments%20and%20SettingsOwnerDesktopchristmas%20competitionchosechristmas%20competition-formatted%20chosen.JPG>
This picture embodies my feelings towards christmas. Although this is christmas in general, I feel like my current christmas is going to be interesting and different then usual. But as a rule, I don't get my hopes up, and I don't think I will ever really like christmas. I took them on the 10th.

15. [Nite_Owl] "The Spoils"
<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/47856_1135064313.jpg>
Haha, well this is what I see when someone says "Christmas." There are a total of four Hershey's Kisses, a watch, and the wrapper of an Andes chocolate here--it's all about the candy, people! You can't have a good Christmas tree without the candycanes and such, or celebrate without the sweets! So...this is all I'll ever ask for and all I'll ever need on the holidays (^,^) (photo taken 12/19/05, Quartz Hill, Southern California, USA--Christmas without snow is hard to photograph heh)

16.)"The time of waiting" [Captain Rachel Black]

18.Annual Xmas Tree [Lakayana]
<img:stuff/xmas.jpg>
This nice Xmas tree is always kept on a corner of our sitting room every xmas season and each member of the family buys a present and drops it by the tree. On xmas day we all go to the tree and pick any present with your name on it. I once asked my Dad the meaning or why this atificial tree is always kept in our parlor every xmas but he could'nt really explain why. But anytime I see him bring this tree from the store to the parlor and decorating it with lights and gifts, I know it's Xmas season again cos that is the only time this tree is brought out. Now presently the tree is standing in a corner in our parlour meaning "Tis the season" again (The picture was taken today 21/12/2005 with my brothers digital camera and in our Sitting room in Lagos Nigeria)

19. 'Christmas Crèche' - [Kelaria]
<img300*0:stuff/ChristmasCreche.jpg>
This is the crèche given to me by a very special person in my life. I feel it's a very good representation of my feelings towards Christmas. A crèche is a three-dimensional representation of the scene at the birth of Jesus Christ. And, after all, it is Christmas. (Please do click for a larger picture, this small size does not do it justice!)
I used a sepia filter (done on the computer) for this photo and edited in the flame (since the candle hadn't been lit when I took the photo).
Taken and edited December 22nd, 2005.

20."Christmas thoughts" - [Bobolama]

<img300*0:stuff/Bobolama-christmas>
The lonesome time before christmas kills me, before I can truely celebrate Christmas..
(My sister is missing here boyfriend terrible ... )

DISQUALIFIED FOR VOTE SPAMMING!!

Just because it doesn't say 'NO SPAMMING FOR VOTES' in the rules does not mean it is allowed.

22. 'A Smiling Front' - [Solitary Comfort]

<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/42900_1135465411.jpg>

A smiling front on a messy occasion. Isn't that what christmas really is?
Very often, for a lot of people out there, Christmas is a miserable time, a time of arguements and disapointment, as well as having to put up with those pointless visits and conversations with relatives you don't even like. But through it all they put on a 'smiling front'.
I was ill this Christmas - so forgive the lack of Christmas Spirit..
(Please note the position of the tail and the pile of poo)
Taken at home on the 24th/12/05.

23. "Psychedelic Christmas" - [Kyrinn]

<img300*0:stuff/PsychoXmas.png>

Boredom with a camera in my hand is a bad thing, lol. Was taking pictures of the family and while they were busy, I was spinning in my computer chair and snapping pictures for the hell of it. this was the best one.
Taken 12/24/05 in my house.

24. "None shall pass!!" - [Lejia'n]

<img300*0:stuff/spike_xmas_small.jpg>

Our cat Spike is lurking underneath the christmastree, waiting for any foes to come up and try to grab his presents... I wonder what will happen if we try to open them tonight.......
25-12-05

25. 'christmas lights' [Elisha Kelly]

<img300*0:stuff/Elys_xmaslights2.png>

the lights on my christmas tree. Taken tonight the 25/12/05 at 11.30pm, on my brand new digital camera.

Whenever I see pretty flashing multicoloured lights I can't help but think of christmas... Their pretty twinkling in the dark never fails to bring a smile to my face, and a gasp of awe from my little girls :) It just wouldn't feel like christmas without them.

26. together [Ishje]

<img200*300:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/9867_1135686224.jpg>

25 december 2005, christmas, for me it is all about being together sharing a few day's of happyness and joy, this picture showes both, the hands for being together and the christmastree for happyness.

27. 'Snow In The Evening' [Rice]

<img250*0://elftown.lysator.liu.se/img/photo/87488_1135699091.jpg>

I was in Lapland last year, January time, the real place for Christmas. The calmness of this picture, the emotion it can not be put into words.

28. "Ice sculpture" - [merlina]
<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/14954_1135722923.jpg>

This is a picture of an ice sculpture of one of the wise men from the east. And with the christmas trees on the background it really reminds me of christmas. It's a cold season but it brings people together. I made this picture in Holland, Leiden, it was on a place with many ice sculptures. date: 27-12-05

29. "The two sides of christmas" - [-tsukasa-]
<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/98554_1135729019.jpg>

I took the 2 pictures on my trip along the west coast of canada and the U.S. The celebration one in Leavensworth and the lake in Lake Chelan national park(You should go there one time). And I think this represents the season because the season has 2 sides. You can be peacefull and one with nature and you can be jolly and celebrate. date 27-12-05 pictures taken 13-12-04 "Leavensworth" 14-12-04 "Lake Chelan national park"

30. "The Christmas Eve Tradition" by [Master Fio]
<img300*0:stuff/chrissy1.jpg>
(Note: This picture looks a lot better when larger)
This was taken on christmas eve on our annual christmas light gazing stroll.
It's funny how just a short walk can get you in the christmas spirit.
I was going to use an picture of my cousins and siblings on christmas day but since it is summer here I thought it might not look very christmasy to everyone else. If you get what I mean?

31. "When all else fails" [Harmonie's mommie!]
<img300*0:stuff/ashleigh0011eg.jpg>
I think this picture represents The season in two forms, Traditional, and The Breath of Life... If we celebrate a human life on this day, then Human life must play an important part in this season.. This photo wasnt messed with at all, this is how it was taken. I think it was the air rushing around the tree and across the camera lens.(note, you may have to click the link)

32. "City of Lights" [thoughtfox]
<img300*0:stuff/IMG_0650.jpg>
This laser show turns night into day. It is then, when every building is thriving with life, that you know that the festive season is here. Taken in Hong Kong, 21/12/2005, just after 20:00

33. "The lights of London" [shotokan_gal]
<img300*0:stuff/oxfordstreet5.jpg>
Last minute frantic shopping is a common occurrence in the days leading up to Christmas, but when rushing around the stores you can't help but know it's the season!
Taken 20/12/05, Oxford street, London.

34. "Reflections" [stuffAEAmade]
<img300*0:stuff/dks_tistheseason.jpg>
The days leading up to the new year is a time to pause and reflect on the one that has past. What better place to do so than in the pristine silence of a winter wonderland?
Taken 2005.12.30 outside my house.

35. "My Xmas Tree" [Shjahjdahdvwa]
<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/42991_1135991461.jpg>
It was a pretty sad day because me and my two sister had an argument with my parents. They went to sleep and we stayed quiet till it was 00:00. This picture was took in 25-12-2005 and the tree was the only joy of that day.

36. "New Years Eve" [Markk!]
<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/stuff/pappaa.jpg>
It`s my dad, baking oil balls.. I think it`s a good shot of this season, because this year is allmost over, and when we in The Netherlands celebrate that, we make oil balls lighten fireworks and have happiness..
Taken on 32-12-05 At 12:20, in our barn

37. "Traditional Christmas" - [Leara]
<img300*0:stuff/C%3AAmandacontestchristmas%200852.jpg>
I think this is a good representation of the season because it includes all, or most, of the traditional elements of Christmas. You have your tree, fake as it may be, pretty twinkling lights, presents from loved ones, and church, or course(yes, that little building is a church). I think the overall feel of the image is calming, and the lights look almost like little sprites. Taken December 24th, in my living room. :P

38. "The Christmas Puppy" - [Paz]
<img300*0:stuff/christmas%20puppy.jpg>
The present that every little kid wants for christmas, a new puppy. When a child runs down the stairs on christmas morning to see a new puppy waiting for them. Christmas also would not be the same without your loving pet beside you (for all those pet lovers) Taken after the holidays, with her christmas bow annually placed on her to celebrate not only the holidays but her birthday. It took me awhile to get her to sit down.

39. "Thee Baby's First Christmas" - [Artsieladie]
<img:stuff/1st300TheeBabysChristmasWpoem.psd.jpg>
Every year I have to set up the Nativity Scene. It's not an expensive one, but then this isn't what Christmas is about! It's ALL about Thee Baby Jesus who made possible the First Christmas & EVERY ONE...thereafter! I took this picture with my daughter's new digital camera she received for Christmas. The date taken, 30/12/2005, I left in the photo. Taken in my living room as the center of my village in my home! The larger version is in my house on Elftown. :))

Happy New Years

2005-12-18 [iippo]: I've never seen a roo, I think aussies might find that odd. Maybe, I'm guessing.

2005-12-18 [Fizban]: perhaps, but its not like they live with kangaroo's...or its not like kangaroo's are as common as squirrels or deer are here in NY...

2005-12-18 [iippo]: I thought they are comparable to squirrels.

2005-12-18 [Fizban]: in number?!?! You think theres that many kangroo's in australia?!?! You idly look outside on a fall afternoon and cant avoid seeing a squirrel or two here...I highly doubt you just idly look out side, and bomp you see a Kangaroo or two just sitting outside, or scurring around...well for them hopping. Seriously,.,..

2005-12-18 [iippo]: I seriously do think they are that common. I dunno, that's the impression I've got. Let us et a native australian tell us. :)

2005-12-18 [Fizban]: Lols, this just reminds me of comedian I saw on T.V. who went on tour to australia, and was commenting on how mellow everyone was, and how they were so nice, and how everyone back in america thought you guys were all insane and rode Kangaroo's to work and stuff. Lols, so funnies...I wanna go to australia:)...

2005-12-18 [moira hawthorne]: you get squirrel in urban and rural area... you dont get roo down town sydney... it be more like any of say n america WILD life.. that life in the wilderness.. like say deer... you might see deer on your farm or even weirdly enough come into a housing subdision but its out of place..

2005-12-18 [Master Fio]: If you go out to country areas there are kangaroos everywhere. maybe our native birds are more like your squirrels i have 2 regular rainbow lorikets and a family of magpies out the front of my yard everyday

2005-12-18 [Master Fio]: Speaking of magpies they are sitting outside calling for me. Better go feed them.

2005-12-18 [Master Fio]: [Fizban] I guess we are pretty laid back. Everyone else seems really uptight to us.

2005-12-18 [moira hawthorne]: I have squirrels that I can feed from my hand.. can...? must feed.. they see me they come running.. for the crazy lady that feeds them nuts.. they will also come if I call their names.. Xir'ag and Sajore and Princess

2005-12-18 [Master Fio]: My lorikeets are called Raz and Paz i feed them by hand and most of the magpie family are hand fed only the youngest baby is a bit to shy

2005-12-18 [Master Fio]: I have to whistle for my birds they dont know their names yet I only just named them a few weeks ago. The magpies dont have names yet

2005-12-18 [moira hawthorne]: Xir'ag and Sajore are named after my finnish friend's charys... both are males.. and this summer we learned the Sajore was a female.. oppps

2005-12-18 [Fizban]: What do you mean? I am confused as to why you choose me [Master Fio]...?

2005-12-19 [moira hawthorne]: b/c of 04:34:30 Fizban: ?

2005-12-19 [Master Fio]: you were the one saying aussies are mellow. I was just agreeing sorta

2005-12-19 [Master Fio]: If you wanna know anything else about Australia just ask. I'm a pro

2005-12-19 [Fizban]: lols, I understand, I totaly misunderstood you before, becuase I though you were saying that you and i were laid back, so I was like...um, I dont know how you would know weather or not I was laid back or not, but I am a tight ass anyway so What are you talking about lols...But, now I get it lols...we=you and other australians lol.

2005-12-19 [Master Fio]: yup :p

2005-12-19 [Jitter]: Changed my entry... :p

2005-12-19 [moira hawthorne]: we have our tree up... its even been moved from the center of the room to the corner.. maybe next weekend we will get some decorations on it

2005-12-19 [Jitter]: Heheh :) Next week... I'M GETTING OFFICIALLY ENGAGED NEXT WEEK! ahem.. don't mind me

2005-12-19 [moira hawthorne]: Wais Hail

2005-12-20 [Elisha Kelly]: wallabys are more common than roos... possums are more the equivelant of squirrels... they are everywhere... I live in the country... but I haven't seen any roos around my place... though they have them at the golf course in yeppoon... also emu park often has emus running up the road... gotta love emus... :P

2005-12-20 [Fizban]: emus...i do love emus...I loved the "war" they waged adn lost against emus...so funny. I love australia and I have never been there...the only downfall is the lack of snow, which isnt even that bad, cuase its not like we cant all live without having to shovel out our driveways forever lols...if my best friend agrees to go with me, we will totally come to live in australia lols...

2005-12-20 [Yuriona]: Mmmmm... holiday chocolate. So much for the diet... LOL!

2005-12-20 [moira hawthorne]: MY DIET IS CHOCOLATE! and COFFEE1!! o.O Mahahahahahahahaha

2005-12-20 [Yuriona]: That explains a lot you know... LOL!

2005-12-20 [moira hawthorne]: and eggnog.. yummy eggnog! need rum tho... damn no money... oh well..

2005-12-20 [Yuriona]: You could just add rum extract and pretend it was the real stuff.

2005-12-20 [Nite_Owl]: i've never had rum in me eggnog before...is it good? i bet my diddy'd let me :P

2005-12-20 [Yuriona]: If you don't add too much rum, it is very good. Too much rum just overpowers the eggnog completely.

2005-12-20 [moira hawthorne]: plus too much cooks the egg! yeck!

2005-12-21 [Master Fio]: Whats eggnog? Ive heard of it but never known what it was.

2005-12-21 [Nite_Owl]: it has milk, egg yolks, nutmeg, and some sugar in it :D ish very very good, but the stores only sell it durring the holidays *sips eggnog and nibbles on fudge* mmmm (^,^) me just loveles Christmas, yis i does

2005-12-21 [Urmando The Elfling]: Alright, Urmando is back in town with a new entry....

2005-12-21 [Yuriona]: Yay! A manip. Very interesting...

2005-12-21 [Master Fio]: In my family we drink punch around christmas. Eggnog would be horrible in this weather. You really need something fresh and fruity. MMMMM mangos It just wouldn't be christmas for me without mangos

2005-12-22 [Yuriona]: Ooooo... a Yule time mage! *claps hands* Yay!

2005-12-22 [Skydancer]: I really have to stay out of stores that sell silly hats.. :D it was just soo soo Suseian though.. :)

2005-12-22 [Yuriona]: Not to feel bad. A local official here had his photo on the front page of our bi-weekly newspaper wearing the same hat. ^^

2005-12-22 [moira hawthorne]: vannathal: mango sound good... but its freeeeeeeezing here in the great white north... and my hubby wont let me turn the heat up pass 20! even jumping up to do laundry dishes or join in a crazy game up my 5 yr old is not enough to keep me warm! I need plenty of rich hot drinks! or Ill become the frozen artist with her hand on the mouse and one of the 36 WIPs I have in photoshop on the moditor!

2005-12-22 [Yuriona]: I've been living on coffee and tea myself to keep warm. Brrrr... the Nestle Coffeecrisp Frothy instant coffee is nice. :) Apparently it's supposed to warm up this weekend though and rain. :(

2005-12-22 [Jitter]: /mumbles as if zombified Mmmmm tea......coffee....sleeeeeeeep..... ZzzzzzzZZz (4am here. MUST GET O BED SHOVE ME OUT)

2005-12-22 [Skydancer]: OH my.. goodness. the very same hat.. oh well, not that original then, but I still think it fits the theme of the concept well. :)

2005-12-22 [moira hawthorne]: JP! bed! *tucks in*

2005-12-22 [Yuriona]: I thought it was still a unique hat. ^^

2005-12-22 [Skydancer]: :) I am quite happy with the entry.. :D

2005-12-22 [Nite_Owl]: haha spiffy hatness :P very nicely done, skydancer (^,^) I despise my digital camera since every picture I take comes out fuzzy...but I still kinda like the way my entry turned out hehe

2005-12-22 [Skydancer]: two things I have discovered with this camera. One is it really really needs a lot of light to get a good shot, and two, it makes a huge difference if I set it on something solid or a tripod and just use the self timer instead of trying to hold it. I think the shutter speed combined with it being so blasted light in weight contributes to a lot of blurred shots.

2005-12-22 [Jitter]: Our digital camera was golden... BUT NOW IT DOESN'T WORK *cries*

2005-12-22 [Skydancer]: Depending on the value of the camera, getting it repaired might not be too bad. Often what happens is the battery connections get dirty or it is just some simple thing with the switches.

2005-12-22 [Kelaria]: Yay! I've finally entered! Though I cant promise my entry wont change... but I'm happy with it for now ^_^

2005-12-22 [Jitter]: Oooh Nice entry [Kelaria]! [Skydancer] the memory stick fell in the mud. At least most of my classmates have a digital. I borrowed one today ^_^

2005-12-22 [Kelaria]: Thanks! :D I took that today... I should put the date XD I forgot

2005-12-22 [Skydancer]: Excellent, not the mud part though.. I wonder if you can clean a memory stick, maybe with alcohol or something. Hmm though I am sure the wetness of the mud is not going to do it much good.

2005-12-22 [Jitter]: I'll try cleaning it but I don't think I'll manage to do anything :/ I'll ask a friend who has a sony digital though if he has any spare memo discs

2005-12-23 [shotokan_gal]: *peers at the deadline* I wish I had a digital :( I took some pictures the other day, that I'll hopefully be able to choose one from for this contest . But I have to finish the film and get them developed and scanned first...

2005-12-23 [Master Fio]: I would never have any problems finnishing film lol Im very snap happy

2005-12-25 [Elisha Kelly]: Muhahahaha... I got a digital camera for christmas... and it has so many flashy settings... hee hee.

2005-12-25 [Skydancer]: ah ha, expects to see tons of nifty photos from [Elisha Kelly]

2005-12-25 [moira hawthorne]: [Lejia'n] your cat Spike is coool!

2005-12-25 [Lejia'n]: Thank you [moira hawthorne] !!

2005-12-25 [shotokan_gal]: My boyfriend got a digital camera today, I may steal his from time to time >:) My film's finished... now just needs developing, which should be done before the 31st (and hoping the pictures come out right).

2005-12-26 [Elisha Kelly]: well it will certainly be easier now... tho I still love my handydandy flash camera :P

2005-12-26 [Kyrinn]: Yay to new digital cameras!! *boogies* Nice entry, [Elisha Kelly]! ^_^

2005-12-26 [Elisha Kelly]: thankyou [Kyrinn] I like your entry too hee hee, here's to spinning chairs!

2005-12-26 [Kyrinn]: Wheeeee!!! *spins in her chair*

2005-12-26 [Jitter]: I changed my entry again.. from now on Xmas will mean my engagement day to me ^_^

2005-12-26 [Urmando The Elfling]: JitterBug, I'm happy for you! So this was your best X-mas present, to get engaged, hm?

2005-12-26 [Jitter]: Hehe kinda! I got so many presents from his family yesterday that I'm still counting!

2005-12-26 [Kyrinn]: Congrats on becoming engaged, [Jitter]!! *hugs*

2005-12-26 [moira hawthorne]: WaisHail! Congrats! [Jitter] and [Rochala] ... hey one cake is heart shaped.. but why is the other a jelly bean?

2005-12-26 [Kyrinn]: Might be the angle of the picture maybe... But it looks yummy!

2005-12-26 [Jitter]: Haha thanks! Moira it's actually one cake shaped as two hearts xD The angle is strange! GTG now! Hope I'll talk to you soon! If I'm not here before 2006 Hope you all have a great new year's day!

2005-12-26 [moira hawthorne]: ooooh one heart hugging the other in front ..ok... Eirikr wants a piece.... lol.. me too! the other food (the wiki) looks very tastee! I love greek food!

2005-12-27 [Elisha Kelly]: try putting the 300 after the IMG and before the :  :}

2005-12-27 [-tsukasa-]: Is it allowed to have 2 pictures in one image

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: Since photomanipulations are permitted then yes, as long as both images were taken by you or you have permission from the original photographer to use the images.

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: Out of curiosity, where in Canada were you visiting. I live in Ontario, Canada.

2005-12-28 [-tsukasa-]: What a coincidence :) Well the festival picture was not actually taken in but in Leavenworth, Washington and the other one at Lake Chelan national park washington. sorry just thoughd that Canada sounded more like christmas. I'll change it

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: I much prefer the truth thank you. :)

2005-12-28 [-tsukasa-]: I can understand that. And I will do it because it's the season. By the way, like under my picture is recommended. If you have time go to the ''Lake Chelan national park" I bet you'll love it.

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: It certainly looks lovely. ^_^ And if you ever truly get the chance to visit Canada, I highly recommend it. ;)

2005-12-28 [Leara]: Just don't go to Edmonton. It's being compared to Detroit. >.>

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: 8O After the shootings in TOronto? I liked Edmonton myself but I visited it in the early 90's and then I only saw the airport and West Edmonton Mall. That place is HUGE! :) Jasper Park is gorgeous though as is Athabasca. First time I've seen mountains. :)

2005-12-28 [Leara]: I haven't been to Edmonton yet, I live only a few hours away though, and they've had 37 murders this year, and have the highest murder rate in Canada. Someone walked up to a little cafe/restaurant last week or so, in the middle of the afternoon, and opening fire on it. >.> Constantly hearing about murders down there. >.> Scares the crap out of me.

2005-12-28 [Elisha Kelly]: it is kinda scary near where I live... I live near Rockhampton and it has a very high sexual assault rate. I would never move into town... I like my little itty bitty area. :)

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: Really? I heard that Toronto had close to 52 but its a bigger city if I remember correctly. I lived in Toronto for 5 years and heard gunshots on two occasions. My husband even witnessed a shooting in the Downtown core. Crazy.

2005-12-28 [moira hawthorne]: cars still kill more people everywhere

2005-12-28 [Leara]: My friend in Edmonton said someone was shot right infront of where he lives. >.> Scary crap.

2005-12-28 [Yuriona]: Eep. O_o That happened to me. I woke in our apartment on Islington to gunshots. Damn scary sound and I'm used to guns as I grew up on a farm. Dad goes deer hunting every year.

2005-12-28 [Leara]: I'm from a small town, so it scares the crap out of me. ^^;;

2005-12-28 [Nite_Owl]: seems like everyone's from Holland...sorry, what're we talking about? :P Yeah, every know and then I can hear gunshots outside, since my city is fairly large--but they're never all that close to our house

2005-12-28 [Kyrinn]: ppl in Alaska like to attack road signs with shot guns. Cant read half of the stupid road signs from Healy to Cantwell, its irritating...

2005-12-28 [Elisha Kelly]: WOW... I have lived in Sydney... and I have never heard gunshots... but then again we have very tough gun laws...

2005-12-28 [Nite_Owl]: :D hehe we're going to Australia and New Zealand during our summer break, we're all so excited! (^,^) We're still trying to plan out everything to do there...too many things heh....yis, I'm rambling again, I seem to do that more often for some reason

2005-12-28 [Elisha Kelly]: OOh... go on the brdge climb in Sydney... I here it is fantastic...

2005-12-29 [Master Fio]: Come to my place and ill show you the real Australia. I'll take you to my uncles farm. Can you ride a horse coz I can teach you if not

2005-12-29 [Elisha Kelly]: everywhere in australia is the real australia.... :P

2005-12-29 [moira hawthorne]: interesting my comments being deleted again

2005-12-29 [Elisha Kelly]: what comment ?

2005-12-30 [moira hawthorne]: about snow...

2005-12-30 [Yuriona]: Telling someone that their reasons for not posting a particular type of photo are inappropriate is not considered constructive criticism. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

2005-12-30 [moira hawthorne]: I didnt say that.. she said that... I said she had a point to post it.. actually

2005-12-30 [Yuriona]: It doesn't matter. Please keep your comments positive or they will be deleted. That goes for everyone by the way [moira hawthorne]. Your comments are not the first or only I've deleted from this page.

2005-12-30 [moira hawthorne]: it was positive.. I said she was putting down her own piece as not being approppete for an invalid reason.. and gave proof of why it would apply..

2005-12-30 [Yuriona]: Please just drop the subject or you will find more of your comments deleted. Thank you. ^^

2005-12-30 [moira hawthorne]: in otherwords no matter what I say ... no matter if it is positive you will just delete my comments...

2005-12-30 [Yuriona]: moira, go find someone else to whine at. I have better things to do than get into a pointless argument with you. It is done, it cannot be changed. I did not like the tone of the comment and removed it. Next time think before you type and save us all from having to read these pointless posts, my own included.

2005-12-30 [Master Fio]: Does anyone like my picture? Im very proud of it :)

2005-12-30 [Elisha Kelly]: Of coarse I do... I just didn't get around to letting you know :P

2005-12-30 [Elisha Kelly]: I changed my entry.

2005-12-30 [shotokan_gal]: Got my photos developed and back at last :D

2005-12-30 [Elisha Kelly]: nice photo :)

2005-12-30 [shotokan_gal]: Sorry for so many edits, I kept changing my description >< But thankyou [Elisha Kelly] :) I considered cropping the shoppers out, but decided they were as much a part of what the photo is about.

2005-12-30 [-tsukasa-]: the last day is about to begin :P

2005-12-31 [Yuriona]: [Shjahjdahdvwa] I need a location and date on your entry please.

2005-12-31 [Bobolama]: ^^ Last day !

2005-12-31 [Markk!]: Yup, my entry is placed=D

2005-12-31 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Oh ok. Oops lol sorry.

2005-12-31 [-tsukasa-]: When is the contest being closed twelf 'o' pacific time or Gtm

2005-12-31 [thoughtfox]: I believe it's ET time, which is the same, or one hour more than GMT, is it not?

2005-12-31 [-tsukasa-]: yep. I think it's ET

2005-12-31 [Artsieladie]: I'm trying to get my entry in. I hope I can get it in!  *worried*  <_<

2005-12-31 [Yuriona]: It's all right... you still have time. ;)

2005-12-31 [Paz]: I just entered because it's still december 31st here @_@ I hope it works for the theme

2005-12-31 [Artsieladie]: "Phew! I made it!" As my daughter can tell you, this is the meaning of the season to me! Happy New Year to All & God Bless EVERYONE!!!  :))

2005-12-31 [Artsieladie]: [Paz]...As far as I'm concerned, whoever is a pet lover, you can't get through a Christmas without them! She reminds me of a dog that I took in & adopted out a couple of years ago. Sweet! I do pet rescue. :))

2006-01-01 [Paz]: Ah, thank you :) She was rescued herself and then the rescuers gave her to us. She my pretty mutt :D

2006-01-01 [Jitter]: Good luck everyone!

2006-01-01 [moira hawthorne]: 40 enteries.. a good number! not so many to drown the choices! and at lots of variety! Good luck to everyone!

2006-01-01 [Kyrinn]: Its a nice turn out. Good luck to all the entrants. ^__^

2006-01-01 [Shjahjdahdvwa]: Good luck everyone!

2006-01-01 [Artsieladie]: *jumps on the "good luck" wagon, too* Yay to everyone! :))

2006-01-01 [-tsukasa-]: Good luck and may the ones who win, win

2006-01-08 [Urmando The Elfling]: Ok, May the best win.... But Who's the winner? And how come some of the Participants have already a participant badge?

2006-01-08 [Ocean Soul]: They don't. At least not for this competition. Remember, there have been two official photography contests before this one. And as for the other question - the winner of this one is not announced yet. It's being worked on though ;)

2006-01-08 [Yuriona]: Please be advised that badges for this contest will not be awarded until the winners have been announced. Judging is under way and I hope to have winners posted by the end of the week. Please be patient and be aware that all photograph badges currently displayed in members' houses were awarded for participation in the two previous compeitions. Thank you.

2006-01-08 [Urmando The Elfling]: Okay, I understand.... I rest my case....

2006-01-15 [Yuriona]:

SPAMMING FOR VOTES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN THIS CONTEST. This means anyone caught messaging members in order to get votes for their entry will be disqualified and could face being banned from all official Elftown contests or Elftown itself.
